Cost Insights
CloudPouch ships Cost Insights for 18 AWS cost areas — from oversized EC2 instances to forgotten EBS snapshots to NAT Gateway data processing charges. Compute & Serverless
Section titled “Compute & Serverless”- EC2 Cost Insights — finds unused, underutilized, and oversized EC2 instances, with rightsizing recommendations and estimated savings.
- EC2 Auto Scaling Group Cost Recommendations — evaluates instances as a fleet, so ASG-managed instances get group-level recommendations instead of misleading per-instance ones.
- Lambda Cost Insights — breaks Lambda cost down per function and flags idle Provisioned Concurrency and abandoned functions.
Storage & Backup
Section titled “Storage & Backup”- EBS Cost Insights — finds unattached volumes, volumes on stopped instances, and GP2-to-GP3 migration savings.
- EBS Snapshot Cost Insights — estimates real per-snapshot cost in incremental snapshot chains and recommends delete or archive per volume.
- S3 Cost Insights — shows storage class mix per bucket and points to missing lifecycle rules and Intelligent-Tiering opportunities.
- EFS Cost Insights — surfaces file systems without lifecycle policies, misaligned storage classes, and file systems nothing mounts anymore.
Databases
Section titled “Databases”- RDS Cost Insights — reviews RDS instance cost, including Extended Support exposure on aging engine versions.
- DynamoDB Cost Insights — checks table capacity mode and cost, since provisioned capacity bills whether you use it or not.
- DocumentDB Cost Insights — reviews DocumentDB cluster and instance spend.
Networking
Section titled “Networking”- VPC Cost Insights — explains VPC networking spend, including NAT Gateways, which bill hourly plus per GB processed.
- ELB Cost Insights — finds load balancers that bill every hour while serving little or no traffic.
- Elastic IP Cost Insights — finds Elastic IP addresses that accrue hourly charges.
Containers & Kubernetes
Section titled “Containers & Kubernetes”- EKS Extended Support Detection — flags EKS clusters on Kubernetes versions that trigger the Extended Support per-cluster surcharge.
- ECR Cost Insights — reviews container image storage that grows with every push and rarely gets cleaned up.
